Track Fusion in Over-the-horizon Radar Networks
نویسنده
چکیده
The surveillance picture provided by an Over-The-Horizon Radar (OTHR) is complicated by multipath propagation. Multiple propagation paths can give rise to several distinct tracks for each target. It has been shown that a Multipath Track Fusion (MPTF) algorithm can successfully use both track and ionospheric information to provide a single track per target for a single radar. This paper presents an extension of the single sensor multipath track fusion algorithm to the multiple radar case (MR-MPTF). We show that, for targets detected in the regions of overlapping coverage, multiple radar multipath track fusion can enhance the accuracy of the target state estimates, ameliorate problems of track continuity and improve the quality of information by providing one track per target.

Over-the-Horizon Radar Multipath and Multisensor Track Fusion Algorithm Development
Over-the-horizon radar (OTHR) and microwave radar networks can together generate track data over a wide surveillance region. However the data is often subject to ambiguity and uncertainty due to the complexities of the HF signal propagation environment, which give rise to multipath OTHR tracks, as well as ambiguities in target associations between multiple microwave radars. This report describe...
متن کاملOver-the-horizon Radar Surveillance Sensor Fusion for Enhanced Coordinate Registration
Redundant data from independent over-thehorizon radar systems can increase track accuracy by providing more independent "looks" at the target. With proper geometry, complementary radar systems can aid in resolving uncertainties in the coordinate registration through the various ionospheric modes. Systematic positional differences between tracks from the separate radars can be used to improve th...
متن کاملAdaptive Decision Fusion in Detection Networks
In a detection network, the final decision is made by fusing the decisions from local detectors. The objective of that decision is to minimize the final error probability. To implement and optimal fusion rule, the performance of each detector, i.e. its probability of false alarm and its probability of missed detection as well as the a priori probabilities of the hypotheses, must be known. How...
متن کاملComparison of Track Fusion with Measurement Fusion for Multipath OTHR Surveillance
Abstract – Multiple tracks of a single target may arise in skywave over-the-horizon radar (OTHR) surveillance, due to the availability of multiple signal propagation paths through the ionosphere. Algorithms to associate and fuse multipath OTHR tracks are required to accurately locate targets and to clarify the air surveillance picture. In this paper, a new measurement-level approach to multipat...
